The great commission of the Lord Jesus Christ to the Church was:"I have been given complete authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age." [Matthew 28 v18-20, NLT]
This is his mission for us also, both in our local communities and on a global scale. We seek to fulfil this by: Sharing the good news of Jesus (by word of mouth and by practical action) with those we meet in our daily lives. Supporting those who by word and action share God's love throughout the world. As a Chapel Family we support Baptist Home Mission and the Baptist Missionary Society. We have close links with Tearfund ? one of our members helped those from refugee and displacement camps resettle in their villages after many years of civil war in Liberia. Before that she worked with Tearfund in Malawi to help to avert the threatened famine in 2002/3.
We are a Fairtrade Church and support campaigns to end poverty around the world such as ?Make Poverty History? and the ?Micah Challenge? which encourages all governments to fulfil the promises they have already made in the Millennium Development Goals. We ourselves are very grateful for the support of others; in particular for the support of other Baptist Churches through ?Home Mission?.
